In the Detroit Auto Show this year, Volkswagen introduced its new Tiguan GTE Active concept which is designed for the wild terrain. It is almost as eco-friendly as the popular all-electric BUDD-e microbus which debut at CES earlier this year.
Tiguan GTE Active concept car will be debuted in 2017 and designed to have an all-wheel drive as well as 221-horsepower hybrid. Its concept is based on the second-generation Tiguan which will be released in 2016. The car is installed with gasoline and electric powered engines, 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) and another electric motor which drives the rear wheels. Initially the car will start off with all-electric E-mode which powered by onboard lithium-ion batteries but when there is no power from the batteries, the gasoline motor takes over and initiates Hybrid mode.
Tiguan GTE Active is also designed with an impressive car infotainment system. It is installed with a 9.2-inch infotainment touchscreen which support gesture control as well as climate control which was found just beneath it. On top of that, the infotainment system supports both Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
There is a difference of 8.9-inch from the ground and the car’s bottom part. The car’s bottom part is made of aluminium material complete with skid plates. Therefore it is suitable to travel on tough road condition.
