Automatic Collision Avoidance System from Opel Helps to Minimize Accidents

Most of automakers are moving towards in creating a system which will increase the safety of not only the driver and his or her passengers but also to the other road users. recently demonstrated its latest car safety feature which is the collision avoidance system as part of their UR:BAN research project.

To make the collision avoidance system works, the car is equipped with camera and radar system as well as the braking and steering system is modified accordingly. It will always monitor the situation surround them and if it detects there is sudden movement whether it is another car or children, the system will warn the driver so that the driver will do necessary action but if the driver does not act in time then the system will automatically takes an evasion action. Opel showed off the system by using its Insignia car model.

Other new feature that Opel is working on is how to analyze the driver’s behaviour to predict the next action that the driver will do. If the system predicts that the driver will change lane then it will enable its driver assistance system such as blind spot monitoring so that the system will alert the driver whenever something or someone appears in the blind spot location.

Opel is also working on a new system which receives information from traffic management infrastructure and other vehicle via Wi-Fi as such that the driver is able to receive complete information so that he or she is able to plan his or her journey accordingly.
