Fiat 500e is the type of all-electric car that has won several awards from car reviewers but the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) does not want you to buy it. It is quite ironic, is it not? The car is priced at $31,800 but for every unit that is sold, the carmaker claims that it loses roughly $14,000. However, this does not stop the carmaker to send the car model to car dealers in California and Oregon as under California laws, it stated that every carmaker need to offer an EV.
According to the EPA rates, the 2016 Fiat 500e is designed to have more than 100 miles in the city. However, cruising at 60mph, the range dropped to 50-mile range in a matter of minutes. Therefore, it is advisable to download a mobile app of interactive map of charging station within the area, like ‘EV Charge Hub’ before travelling in the car.
From the outside 2016 Fiat 500e looks like a toy car with its orange metallic paint job and white leather interior. However, once you cruising down the open road, it gives you the quiet atmosphere inside the cabin which is really wonderful. On top of that, it is easy to park in the city as it requires small space. It can be more fun than Nissan Leaf or Mitsubishi’s i-MiEV.
The downside is that it might feel top heavy when driving in sharp corners and the range that it can travel is considered low for an EV car.
