Kuniako Saito and his team at Cocoa Motors have invented a pocket sized transporter which is small enough to be carried inside a bag. This invention is known as “Walkcar” transporter and it is currently put up at the crowd-funding website Kickstarter. For those of you who are interested in the product, you will be able to reserve it through the website from autumn 2015 and the shipping is starting from spring 2015 onwards. The device will be priced at 100,000 Japanese Yen (about $800).
What is interesting about this transporter is that, apart from its small size, it is able to travel at maximum of 10 kilometers per hour (6.2 miles per hour) and for distance up to 12 kilometers (7.4 miles) after three hours of charging as it is powered by lithium battery. On top of that, it is strong but light as it is made from aluminum and able to take loads up to 120kg (265 pounds). It looks more like a skateboard rather than a segway.
Walkcar is easy to ride. When the rider step on it, the rider will start automatically and when the rider step down from it, then it will stop automatically too. To change direction, the rider just needs to shift his or her weight to the direction where he or she wants to go.
There are two versions available, an indoor or outdoor version and it weighs between two and three kilograms (4.4 to 6.6 pounds) depending on the version.
